Online Nexus Reader

Nexus online reader – High security level

Prima’s online Nexus readers are some of the key components within the FlexAir® system, and are essential to use in order to be able to deliver the high security level that FlexAir® warrants. The online Nexus readers are connected to the core of the system – the Alpha central. The central will automatically update the readers with the most recent access rights. When an access tag or card is placed in front of the reader, the central will determine whether the tag or card has access while saving the event in its event log. Logged events will appear in the Nova software immediately afterwards.

The online Nexus is the optimal reader for doors with high traffic and/or high security needs. These readers are often used at main entrances, staff entrances and main doorways. The Nexus reader will clearly indicate if the users’ tag or card has access or not by using a sound signal as well as a red/green LED light. The backlights also ensure that you can always see the reader clearly regardless of the time of day.

With or without keypad

Prima’s online Nexus reader is available with or without a keypad. The reader with a keypad offers the possibility to use a self-selected PIN-code as extra security in addition to reading a smart access tag or card. The keypad has touch buttons, and there is therefore no mechanical contact or moveable components that need to be replaced over time. The online readers are equipped with EST (Energy Saving Technology), which reduces the power usage with up to 50% in comparison to other readers on the market. The Nexus reader is IP 65 classified and is made of polycarbonate, which is both vandal-proof and flame-resistant. The modern and slim design makes it possible for the reader to be integrated into all types of environments, and it can even be fitted into very narrow frame profiles.

Extra security

Prima offer two types of anti-vandal shields to offer extra protection and security in areas where there is a high risk of vandalism or rough usage of the readers.

The first solution consists of fitting the reader behind an anti-vandal shield with a Lexan plate, which will protect the reader from vandalism. This solution is especially suitable when installing MIFARE readers as well as the usual Nexus P and Nexus M installations where it is desirable to add the vandal protection at a later stage.

The other solution is to place an external reader safely inside the building, and to connect this to an antenna fitted behind an anti-vandal shield made out of stainless steel. This anti-vandal protection can only be used in connection with a Prox reader.
